Oakleigh East Townhouses
The Oakleigh East townhouses are a remarkable example of a knockdown and rebuild project that has real strength and character. The primary objective was to provide suitable living spaces for two very different generations, each with unique requirements and needs. The front house is a spacious, double storey home designed for the needs of a young and growing family, while the back house is a single level home designed for the comfort and convenience of an elderly couple.
The design of both houses was influenced by the two established trees on the property. The larger, beautiful tree at the front and the smaller tree situated at the back were deemed too important to be removed, and as a result, both houses were designed around them. The outcome is a bespoke development that combines timeless design with contemporary aesthetics. The blend of warm red brick mixed with dark and light modern panel cladding creates distinctive features for both houses.
Both houses have open floor plans with a lot of space and light. The abundant natural light, good natural ventilation, distinctive finishes and beautiful skylights make this a truly unique and likeable family home. Both living areas are extended out on an extensive timber deck with an alfresco area surrounded by a beautiful garden. The back of the property features a small court around the existing tree, creating a lovely space for the elderly couple to enjoy.
Designing these two townhouses was a challenging process but the outcome is a lovely home that not only satisfies the client's requirements and necessities but also reflects the family's unique lifestyles, passions, and aspirations.
